Official Collaboration: Wes Lang X The Great Frog

Wes Lang and Reino Lehtonen-Riley (designer and owner of The Great Frog) were introduced by a mutual friend at the Chateu Marmont where Wes was the artist in residence. It was after this meeting that a plan was formed to work together.

The collaboration seemed only natural as Lang’s work contains much of the same enduring imagery and symbolism that The Great Frog has built its reputation upon.

With a shared passion for riding motorbikes and the freedom it brings, Wes and Reino decided to use the Native American skull and headdress, prevalent in much of Lang’s work and an iconic image that resonates with many as the embodiment of freedom and resistance. This piece the Indian Chief Ring was painstakingly hand carved over a month, the first being cast in solid 18ct gold and inlayed with turquoise and natural red coral.

The Wes Lang Reaper Ring was soon to follow, a personification of death in the form of a cloaked skeleton wielding a large scythe, the first one being made in 18ct yellow gold and then plated with rhodium, rose gold and white gold details.

Each piece will be individually numbered and truly a one off; both a covetable piece of wearable jewellery and a collectors piece in its own right.
