Hannya masks have been a prominent symbol in traditional Japanese theatre (Noh – 能) for centuries, representing a jealous demon. It possesses two sharp bull-like horns, metallic eyes, and a leering mouth.
In Japanese language, hannya means wisdom; the name comes from the Monk who designed the mask, Hannya-bo.
