The Meaning, Uses & History of Garnet:
Garnet can be found all over the world, and although red is the most common colour in garnet (and the only colour we stock) the stone comes in a variety of colours, each with it’s own individual properties. According to legend and folklore, garnet is one of the most ancient of talismans, not just as an ornamental jewel, but also because of its protective energies.
In the middle ages, crusaders would set garnets into their armours, believing they would protect them from evil. In some Asian cultures, garnets were even added to bullets, believing it would make the bullet more powerful and destructive. In Christianity, some biblical legends claims that Noah used a garnet on his ark to light the way through the dark. Garnets have also been found buried with warriors and in ancient Egypt dating all the way back to 3100 B.C.
Since ancient times, people have believed garnets can help mental health and clarity, lighten the mood and bring peace and solace to the grieving.
