TGF NYC Staff Introductions: Alec

Tell us a bit about yourself & how long have you worked at TGF?

I am originally from Boyle Heights, LA but I’ve been in NYC for about 4 years now. I grew up around cars and motorsports my whole life and got into motorcycles about 10 years ago.

I’m a photographer and cinematographer by trade, shooting professionally for 11 years. I started working here because my BFF4L (Dagger) convinced me to since I had some downtime during the week. I visited quite often and already had a big collection of TGF. I’ve worked at TGF for almost 2 years now.

When did you first come across TGF?

I came across the brand around 10 years ago after seeing a photo of Slash with a pendant and chain from TGF, but I didn’t buy my first piece until maybe 8 years ago.

What do you love about the brand?

I love what it represents: Rock’n’roll, a brand for the misfits, the creatives and the people who don’t fit in and aren’t afraid to stand out. We love the type of people that rep the brand too and have made many friends through TGF. It’s almost like all the people who are misfits come here and have a little community.

What’s your favourite TGF piece?

The Gold and Silver Wreath Ring.

What would you say are the most popular pieces in-store with customers?

Wreath Ring, Thick Link Bracelet, Medium Anatomical Skull, Plague Skull Ring, Rose and Eye Rings.

Who’s been the most awesome guest that’s visited?

Slash from G’N’R.

What are your favourite nearby spots for food, drink or hanging out?

For food, we enjoy Cafe Katja, Williamsburg Pizza, Sauce Pizza, Chinese food from Ming’s Cafe, Cafe Himilaya and we can’t leave out our local bodega Optimum Gourmet Deli.

Bars: Some dive spots. Clockwork, Home Sweet Home and 169

The Tenement Museum is also great (they have a tour and it’s the only tour we recommend).

All these places are within a 5-8 min walking distance from us.

What do you love most about NYC?

I mean what hasn’t been said? The diversity, the people and characters you meet and see on the streets, the culture and the LOWER EAST SIDE!
