Tell us a bit about yourself. How long have you worked at TGF?
I’ve been involved with TGF for 6 years. I’m into rock’n’roll, anthropology, motorcycles, and nerd stuff like ‘The Lord of the Rings’.
When did you first come across the brand?
I stumbled upon the New York store about 7 years ago by accident. I recognised the product from pop culture but didn’t know I was into jewellery until I saw the shop and was nearly drooling on the displays. I saved up and bought my first ring, the Cobra.
What do you love about the brand?
I love the quality of the pieces, the history, the aesthetics, and its cult following.
What’s your favourite TGF piece?
It’s hard to choose my favorite TGF piece, but I will say I never leave my house without my Wreath Ring.
What would you say is the most popular piece with customers at the NYC store?
Rose Rings, we can’t grow them fast enough haha.
Who’s the most awesome guest that’s visited?
There’s been a lot of amazing guests, celebrities and regulars. I feel I should say Slash for the readers, but our regular loyal customer is just as awesome! They know who they are…
What are your favorite nearby spots for hanging out?
There are endless amazing establishments in the Lower East Side to eat and drink at, it’s a shame not fully being able to enjoy them like we used to because of the pandemic but you can find me at Cafe Katja across from the NYC shop more often than not.
What do you love most about NYC?
There’s never a dull moment in NYC – you never know who you’ll meet or where you’ll end up. Everything is so close and the views are iconic, but the best part of our city is the people. New York attracts a certain breed of open-minded, hard-working characters.
What’s the most unusual fact about the store?
Our store resides in a historic tenement building. Back in the day, this was a rough neighborhood and large families would live in what is now a studio apartment in the building back in the 1800s – think of the Martin Scorsese film ‘Gangs of New York’ as a reference. Yes, I’ve certainly heard things go bump in the night before.
